With the line up set and the performers ready for Battle of the Bands, the doors opened at promptly at 7pm.
The Sri Lankan Society were on first with a great opening to the show, playing mix of pop and rock hits.
Next on were the Arab Society who played a plethora of instruments in an upbeat set full of energy.
Following this, with a throw-back to some classic hits like ‘Californication’ and ‘Heartbreaker’, PakSoc proved to be a real crowd-pleaser.
FRINJE, a Sheffield based jazz band, proved to be very popular: offering an entirely different genre.
Last of the competing bands was the Indian Society and they didn’t disappoint with their set of classical harmonies with a Western twist.
Guest band Sobriquet closed the show with an energetic set which, after a few technical
difficulties, finished the set list on a high.
Congratulations to the winners PakSoc and the runners up Indian Society! The event was a great
success thanks to everyone that took part.
Battle of the Bands took place at the Foundry in Sheffield Students’ Union on Friday 24th November 2017.
