The Arctic Monkeys are rumoured to be headlining three or four shows at Hillsborough Park this September after a licensing application was made for the site.
Twitter user Nick Bax tweeted an image of the notification of the application on Sunday 18 February, hinting that he believed that the iconic Sheffield band could be lined up.
The band have been on hiatus since 2014 but are headlining a number of festivals this summer and are expected to release their highly-anticipated sixth studio album in the coming months.
The application says that SJM Concerts Ltd, who’ve put on shows by the band in the past, have asked for a licence to provide live and recorded music on a maximum of four dates in September.
Sheffield festival Tramlines is being held at Hillsborough Park for the first time this summer, and that event has been licenced for 40,000 people. It is unclear how many these events would be licenced for if they were given the go-ahead.
The Council are asking “interested parties” to make written representations about the application by Wednesday 14 March.
