A food van is set to be installed onto the Students’ Union concourse for after nights out, one of outgoing SU President Kieran Maxwell’s key promises.
It will start serving after every SU club night from September, offering up student favourites like chips, cheese and gravy as well as burgers.
The SU also wants to use the van for other events around the city, including volunteering and outreach.
Kieran made nights out one of the key parts of his manifesto when he ran last year, including a Pop Tarts Pass and the food van.
He eventually brought in a Pop Tarts Club for loyal revellers and has now delivered on this food van, which is set to be in place later this week.
Kieran said: “We are really excited to announce the Students’ Union’s newest outlet: our very own food van! It’ll provide a whole host of late-night favourites right outside all our SU club nights, so you won’t have to go far to get that food fix.
“I think this is really important when it comes to student safety, as having something to eat when you’ve had a drink can help you get home safe, allowing you to take a break, sober up, and stopping you having to walk into the city.”
