The third and final day saw saw festival goers in even better spirits than the previous few days thanks in no small part to the scorching temperatures.
Day two at the countries biggest free music festival was even bigger than day one; Division Street was impossible to navigate thanks to hoards of people and the main stage had finally opened their doors. Just like yesterday though, all across the city there was a host of amazing music on offer. And ALL of it was free.
Day one of the ‘free for all’ festival started fantastically. Although the quietest of the three days, Barkers Pool drew a massive crowd and venues up and down division street were packed; people in Bowery were stood on the stairs. Even the long queues outside some of the venues didn’t damper the good spirits of the punters as ‘queue beers’ were passed around amongst total strangers.
In case you haven’t noticed, here at Forge we’re hugely excited for all the FREE music on offer as part of Tramlines festival. So excited in fact, that we’ve spent the last 3 days picking out some of our favourite artists from the lineup and compiling them in one place (well, 3 places) to help you to decide where to spend your time at this years festival. So without further ado let’s get on with the final part of our Tramlines 2011 Preview.
With over 800 acts playing Sheffield’s biggest free festival returns July 22-24, Forge Media will be there to cover the whole thing.
Yesterday we posted the first of our three part Tramlines 2011 preview picking out some acts that we think you should see over the weekend. With so many bands at so many venues it’s difficult to decide which acts to see, that’s where we come in: If you don’t know who you want to see, check out the next bit of our list of recommendations and favourites, and have a listen while you’re here.
A few issues back we ran an interview with Sarah Nulty, assistant festival director of Tramlines and picked out a handful of acts that we recommended you see this year. Since then the line up for the festival grown and now there are over 800 acts confirmed.
