World-famous circus company Cirque du Soleil are kicking off the tour of their brand new production, Varekai, Tales of the Forest, right here in Sheffield.
The spectacular show will run for five performances from Thursday 2 – Sunday 5 February at Sheffield Arena, presenting a great opportunity to experience the venue’s intimate Steel Hall theatre space.
A tribute to the travelling traditions of the circus, the word Varekai means “wherever” in the Romany language of the Gypsies. The story follows the adventures of a young man who is parachuted into the magical forest of Varekai, a kaleidoscopic world imbued with fantastical creatures.
Based in Quebec, Cirque du Soleil is one of the most celebrated circus organisations in the world. From its humble beginnings as a collective of 20 street performers in 1984, the group now employs more than 1,300 artists from across the globe. Its reputation has gone from strength to strength, and the company is renowned for its artistry and spectacle.
Varekai is sure to be a show to remember. Find tickets and more information here.
