GIVE SPORT HOPE

IT’S TIME FOR CHANGE

Sport Sheffield is developing fast, but it’s vital this remains for our benefit as students, not the university’s financial gain. To ensure this I will focus on these three key areas:

1) Support

  • Increase publicity of developing clubs
  • Ensure small clubs have a voice
  • More funding for transport costs

2) Inclusion

  • Give all sports the opportunity to play a part in varsity
  • Continue and improve: #thisgirlcan #weareinternational #weareable
  • Introducing: interfaith sports day, Play Proud (LGBT+ in sport)
  • Wednesday afternoons free

3) Development

  • Encourage clubs to host beginners and development events
  • Support development squads through coach/instructor funding
  • Greater backing of top level players
  • More flexible gym memberships

IT’S TIME TO RETHINK SPORT

Sport has many physical, mental and social benefits. I want to celebrate what sport and physical activity can do for students and our wider community by:

  • Encouraging involvement through ‘give it a go’ and social sport
  • Raising awareness of mental health
  • Promoting a healthy and active lifestyle
  • Creating more volunteering and charitable opportunities
  • Encouraging inclusive and accessible socials

IT’S TIME TO GIVE SPORT HOPE

Being club captain of ultimate frisbee has taught me to listen, learn and speak up. I know what it’s like to run a small, unique club, fighting for funding, and so I am determined to ensure ALL clubs have an equal voice. I am committed, spirited and excited to improve sport and its impact on students. Let’s rethink sport and WIN VARSITY.
