Sarah Dewhirst

Hi, I’m Sarah Dewhirst and I would love to be your Sports Officer.

I believe sport is essential for a healthy lifestyle and should be encouraged at all levels. I would continue the promotion of Social Sport opportunities and GIAGs, and support all clubs regardless of BUCS status.

I am passionate about well-being within sport. I would bring in mental health sessions designed to ‘train the trainer’, teaching committees how to effectively encourage a healthy attitude towards exercise and food. Knowing what and when to eat is essential, which is why I would ease access to the Sport Sheffield nutritionist as well as running ‘healthy lifestyle’ sessions.

I have met many of my closest friends through the athletics club and my numerous trips to ROAR. I would therefore look into ROAR loyalty cards and improving the TIA system to ensure clubs don’t miss out on big events such as Christmas Day!

I would work with Sports Sheffield to ensure transport to Norton is subsidised. I aim to provide a swim only gym membership, as well as subsidised gym memberships for sports team members. To ensure easier access to activity room, gym classes and pitch bookings I will work with the university to develop a Sport Sheffield app and improve the accessibility of their website.

To make it easier for clubs to access their money, I aim to review the Sports Sheffield accounting system and BUCS entry funding to create a fairer process.
