As a proud Sheffield MA Student, I have loved this university for many years. I’m incredibly honoured to be a part of the best Students’ Union in the country, and in my opinion one of the best in the world. As SU President I would endeavour to make the union even better, and more accessible for every last student.
As SU President, I would endeavour to bring about the following to the union:
Increase Post-Graduate presence in the union. As SU President I would aim to increase social interactions between Undergraduates and Postgraduates from all disciplines, which I hope will encourage more students to stay on at Sheffield for PG study/research.
- Assign student DDSS representatives in each department, so students have a peer to turn to for advice on what support is available. Each semester I would arrange a meeting with these representatives to discuss any issues raised by students, and make changes to the services where necessary.
- Fur-friendly study spaces. Essay writing and exam prep can be extremely stressful, and having a study space where you can bring along your companion animal would help to alleviate some of that stress, and may help to motivate during study sessions.
- Traffic-light labelling on menus at food outlets. Student health and wellbeing is extremely important to me, and I believe having a traffic light style colour code at the food outlets will allow students to make more informed healthy choices.
- I want to make a lasting, positive change to the SU.
