Every Wednesday, Marta brings a slice of the Mediterranean to Sheffield to see if the music scene really differs at all.
I had to go back to Italy last week. When you combine Ryanair £5 tickets and a place to crash in one of the most beautiful countries in Europe, it can happen.
I was too busy eating breakfast at Bicerin, having lunch at my father’s and merenda at Grom’s, aperitivo at Baratti and most of all dinner at Trattoria Milanese to listen to music. (By the way, if any of these names sound unfamiliar, I suggest you immediately Google them and plan your next vacation around the opening times).
Food aside, I would like to suggest the vision of a very cool Italian video that came up recently. I already talked about the band, The Scrabble, in a previous blog. They just released their first video and for the debut they chose the coolest director in town, Matteo Bernardini.
Don’t be tricked by the fact that the city is tiny little Torino: the guy directed a video for Moby (‘Ooh Yeah’, 2008) and was nominated amongst the 100 most talented Italians under 30 by Corriere della Sera (it’s like The Times, but Murdoch-free).
Here is the video, hope you enjoy it. Thanks to YouTube you don’t even have to get an aeroplane to see it. And since these guys have an English manager, you never know…
