A League of Their Own is a new game show on Sky1 hosted by the hilarious James Gordon of Gavin and Stacey. The show describes itself as ‘the new panel show that doesn’t take sport too seriously’ and it does exactly what it says on the tin.
Set up as if it were a straightforward copy of Question of Sport it then subverts these expectations by not really being that much about sport at all. The show is made up of two teams with Andrew Flintoff and Jamie Redknapp as team captains. The quiz is then divided into three rounds. Round one involves the teams having to rank sportsmen according to some criteria, for example in the first episode contestants had to rank sportsmen according to how much their signature cost on EBay. However my personal favourite is the final round, styled as a kind of quick-fire round except the time the team receives to answer questions is dependent on how long one of their teammates can sustain a physical challenge. Poor Neil Morrissey trying to hold a press up is amusing watching.
Definitely worth a watch during a night in on a Thursday night if you’re lucky enough to possess Sky.
