Sparkle is for life, not just for Christmas

This week’s beauty blog is about all that shines.

Shimmers, shadows, glosses, glitter and highlighters are essential tools in my party time make up kit and are a cheap and easy way to create an exciting look.

Highlighters are great for defining cheek bones and give skin a dewy glow.

Benefit High Beam and Moon Beam are the best liquids for the job, but any pearly pink, white or cream coloured eye shadow will do the trick.

Dust on to cheekbones, brow bones and your cupids bow for an angelic sheen.

Speaking of sparkly shadows, Barry M Dazzle Dusts are the brightest of the bunch for under a fiver.

Use them to create shimmery smoky eye in any imaginable colour.

If you want a more intense glitter finish, that will stay on all night, its best to apply Vaseline to your eyelid first, sticking the Dazzle Dust to it.

If you can’t be bothered with complex Vaseline and shadow application and have a little more dollar to throw around then try the Illamasqua “liquid metal” cream shadows.

They are stupendously pigmented and glorious to look at.

They are also £17, but if you love your glitter, they are worth it.

Also I just picked up an amazing palette of 24 brightly coloured, cream glitter eyeshadows from Urban Outfitters for £5 in the sale.

Lip gloss wise, nothing will compare to MAC’s ridiculously shimmery range.

Primark, however, have brought out glittery eye glosses which despite being a little sticky give good colour pay off and amazing sheen.

I picked one up for 50p. They are so cheap that they are definitely worth a try.

Finally, let’s talk about cosmetic glitter.

Use Vaseline or eyelash glue to stick it your face or body. It’s great for adding drama to a simple eye makeup look.

You can pick up good quality stuff from POP in Topshop or PIXI (available in Selfridges or online).

I, however, had a good rummage around Superdrug and found a series of different coloured glitters, for under £2 each, in one of the cheaper lines.

With sparkly products so cheap, easy to use and effective, you have no excuse not to get glammed up Vegas style and make your makeup stand out in the crowd.

Go on; throw glitter around like you are celebrating the Millenium all over again.
