The Brits: fashion winners 2010

Everyone who is anyone was combing the red carpet last night and there were some lovely fashion offerings… as well as some exciting disasters.

Looking very striking indeed was Lily Allen in a full-length, black and red gothic number. The more I look at the dress, the more I like it – although on first glance I admit that the bottom is reminiscent of Ursula the sea witch in The Little Mermaid. Nevertheless, the overall look is as unusual as it is stunning, leaving Lily the belle of the ball – until she donned the orange wig later on!

Pixie Lott also opted for a gothic inspired look, though still managing to retain her trade-mark cutsie image by going for 1920s waves in her hair.

Another winner, though one not mentioned that often, was Leona Louis. She ditched her usual full-length, black gown and went for a futuristic silver one-structured-shoulder William Tempest dress.

And as for the boys, no one looked better than JLS last night, in their matching silver suits. The lads, who couldn’t contain their excitement as the went up to collect both of their awards, looked suave, smart and very sexy. However, Aston would have been better to do a couple more buttons up – his shirt was practically undone to his belly button.

There’s no surprise as to who the fashion disaster of the evening went to. You’ve guessed it: Lady Gaga. On the red carpet she donned a floor length cream coat which seemed to have been the inspiration of the Christmas fairy. The coat was teamed with the largest, white-blonde bee-hive that has ever been created; this was followed with a lacey venetian eye mask. Weird? Not weird enough it appers for Gaga, if what she had underneath is anything to go by. Strategically placed lace was all that spared her of her modesty in the one-legged skin coloured jump suit. Oh well, she definitely gives us something to talk about!

The other losers include new girl on the scene, Bat for Lashes’ Natasha Khan who sported a bizarre looking hat; Sugarbabe Jade Ewen in a cream, tacky looking wrapped disaster; as well as Kyle Minogue in a shapeless, floor-length and see-through skirted lace dress.

However, as far as disastrous goes, these women pale in comparison to Gaga who is the undoubted queen of crazy, weird and individual clothes.
