We are in the deep of winter: it is intensely cold, frost winds bite at our cheeks and festive excesses have done their damage to our faces.
Dry skin, under eye bags and blemishes galore, it is time to give your skin a little care and attention.
Avoid drying cleansers and too much make-up; you need to get moisture back into your skin to regain your glow; here are the products that will do that:
Clinique Super Rescue – Antioxidant Night Moisturiser
This is my new favourite ever product. Don’t get too excited, it changes regularly. The pack tells me that it neutralizes damage to the skin from sun, stress and pollution, but I just love it because it absorbs mega quick and is super moisturising. As soon as you put it on, it smoothes out the skin. I’ve been using my mum’s over the holidays but I am definitely going to be buying my own now I’ve received my student loan.
Vaseline Lip Therapy with Rose and Almond Oil
Who doesn’t enjoy a bit of Vas on their lips to protect them from the drying nature of Sheffield’s windy hills? This Vaseline has a gorgeous rose tint to it as well. I’ve been using a tiny amount on my cheeks to give a hint of healthy colour and a little sheen.
Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream
This brown paste smells vile, but cures so many sins. Put it on dry skin and lips, blemishes, wind, sun burn or actual burns before bed and they’ll disappear overnight. It is my first port of call for any skin disaster. Slather it all over your face if you have extremely dry skin and use it as a night mask – great for after a day on the slopes.
Water
Yes, it has been said millions of times, but drinking lots of water really does improve your skin. Use the exam period as a chance to rehydrate and reverse the drying effect of central heating and the cold on your face.
Go forth and moisturise.
