Graduating students were among the first to see the redeveloped main entrance to the Students’ Union when it was unveiled during Graduation Week.
Work on the £5million renovation project, which began in November 2009, is still ongoing in Coffee Revolution, New Leaf and the Union Shop.
The renovation is due to finish in time for the start of the new academic year.
Student Finance Officer Tom Hastings said: “The new building is more welcoming and much more open-plan, meaning it will be easier to navigate.
“It has more student meeting space, seating areas, computers and more space for societies and committees to work on their projects.”
Work has begun on the Glossop Road entrance to Bar One to make it disabled access friendly.
The bar will remain open throughout the summer.
Hastings said the changes to Coffee Revolution will see more seating being created in a larger space.
The Union Shop and Studio Shop, which will now be called Our Sheffield, have been completely renovated and are being restocked to reopen in time for Intro Week.
Hastings said: “We’re confident that our students will really make the most of the new building and put their own stamp on it.
“We are really excited about welcoming all of our students old and new back into the building by early September.”
