
Police closed off a section of Glossop Road
A female pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries after being hit by a bus on Glossop Road.
The 18-year-old woman, from Suffolk, was hit by a double decker bus early yesterday evening while crossing Glossop Road, near the Student Union’s Bar One pub.
She suffered serious head injuries and a punctured lung and is being treated in the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, where her condition has been described as stable.
The road had been busy with students queueing to attend Bar One’s Christmas Day.
A witness at the scene said that the woman was a student.
Several police cars and ambulances arrived at the scene and closed off a section of the road.
The bus driver, a 48-year-old man from Sheffield, was not reported to have been hurt.
