NC: ‘if tuition fees is the most important issue to you (audience member) not much I can persuade you of to revise your view to me. But if you accept politics is more than one decision, I hope you’d look at what else we did over our five year period in government. If you give us some credit for that, and more importantly if you believe in the values of British liberalism, on which we don’t have a monopoly, but that tradition of compassion, tolerance, valuing evidence and debate…those are values which are incredibly precious and are under severe threat. Lib Dems only national party trying to speak up for those values…if you share and recognise those values…I hope you would think of drifting back’.
On the voting system, NC says: “The best system would be STV (Single transferable vote), it’s fairly proportional and gives voters the best choice about who will represent them.”
Also asked what the lib Dems can do to bring more politically centrist people back
NC: “Politics and pride dictated that DC was good at the one thing he could never admit to. (Sharing power)”
