Sheffield Steelers have signed Canadian winger Tanner Eberle from the Jacksonville Icemen.
The 24-year-old comes highly-rated and has amassed 176 appearances in the ECHL, a mid-level professional ice hockey league based in Princeton, New Jersey, with two franchises in Canada. Formerly known as the East Coast Hockey League, the ECHL is a tier below the American Hockey League (AHL).
His former club, the Jacksonville Icemen, are a minor league ice hockey team in the ECHL in Florida and began playing last season, missing out on a play-off spot by ten points.
The 5ft 11ins attacker has also coached and has featured 11 times in the AHL, a 30-team professional ice hockey league that often acts as a development platform for the National Hockey League.
His one year deal with the Steelers will come as a boost after the retirement of the influential Levi Nelson at the end of last season.
