Woodhouse set for revenge fight

Woodhouse has been training hard

CURTIS Woodhouse will embark on his revenge mission on Sunday when the former Sheffield United captain turned boxer clashes with Isle of Wight’s Jay Morris at the Magna Centre in Rotherham.

He will headline the bill on the Dave Coldwell Productions scorecard ‘Repeat or Revenge?’ for the British Masters International light-welterweight title.

The former England U21 international tasted defeat for the first time in 11 bouts against Morris in Ireland last April, but believes he has the tools to inflict retribution on Sunday.

Woodhouse said: “It’s been a hard, torturous eight weeks, but I’m ready to fight. Last 12 months I have improved so much – I’m a fitter fighter, more well rounded, defense and technically got better.”

With Woodhouse back on home soil, he believes the crowd can really influence his performance.

He said: “It’s great to be back in South Yorkshire. Let’s see how he likes it when he comes to fight and a thousand people booing him.

“It will be a white hot atmosphere and a great fight – not boring – fans will enjoy this one.”

Beverley born Woodhouse turned his back on football to embark on a career in boxing in 2007, a sport he has fond memories of since he was a child.

Morris will be looking to retain his title after a points victory over Woodhouse in April 2009, a fight which many critics believe Woodhouse was off form.

The fight is live on Sunday 28th February at the Magna Centre in Rotherham. Doors open at 1:30pm with boxing starting from 3pm. Tickets cost £25 and are available from www.visitmagna.co.uk.
