The Crick Centre at the University of Sheffield is proud to present ‘New Politics for New Times’ talk by Dr Tristram Hunt MP.
The rise of ‘insurgent’ parties, evidence of growing political disenchantment and the recent election of Jeremy Corbyn as Leader of the Labour Party suggests that the landscape of British politics is changing.
This is also reflected in the popularity of forms of ‘pop up’ or ‘DIY democracy’ but what is fuelling these changes and how should mainstream political institutions (including political parties) respond? In this lecture Tristram Hunt (historian, broadcaster, MP for Stoke-on-Trent Central and until recently Shadow Secretary of State for Education) explores what a ‘new politics for new times’ might look like.
