The University of Sheffield have clinched their seventh straight Varsity title after tasting victory in the Women’s Hockey 1s with a 5-0 win this afternoon.

Having won 10 crowns each before today, the Black and Golds have now edged in front of Team Hallam after winning 2019’s instalment and following a successful day at EIS yesterday.

Uni of picked up wins across netball, futsal, volleyball and athletics as the Black and Gold’s ended the day with a comfortable 35-21 lead.

Today, events including hockey at Abbeydale and tennis and squash at Hallamshire saw the Black and Golds edge closer to the 39.5 threshold needed to win, with the Hockey fixture securing the final point necessary.

The Black and Golds haven’t lost the competition since 2012.
